Crime varies sharply street-to-street, so a single borough number hides a lot. Our safety score normalises incident counts by population density at the representative postcode and weights violent and acquisitive crime more heavily than antisocial behaviour. Data is refreshed monthly from data.police.uk.

Our ranking changes month-to-month with Met Police data, but the postcodes at the top of the list above consistently record the fewest incidents per resident across violent, acquisitive and antisocial categories.
How do you calculate the safety score?
We pull street-level crime from data.police.uk for the representative postcode of each outcode, weight by category (violent crime counts more than antisocial behaviour), normalise against population density, and rebase to a 0–100 scale so 100 is the safest London area we track.
Is the data up to date?
Yes — we refresh from the Met Police open data feed monthly, typically within a week of release. Every per-postcode page shows the exact month and source link.
Why does my street feel safer than the postcode score suggests?
Outcodes cover several thousand homes. The score is an average and won't capture a quieter side street or a busy parade. Use it as a shortlisting tool, then compare a specific street using the full report.
Which London boroughs have the lowest crime?
Suburban outer-London boroughs (Richmond, Kingston, Sutton, Bromley) consistently top our safety ranking, but several central postcodes also score well once residential density is factored in. Use the borough hub to see all postcodes inside a single borough.
